Rolex Middle Sea Race 2015 Is Over

One of the most exclusive sailing races, Middle Sea Rolex 2015 has ended.

It takes place in the very center of Mediterranean Sea, it’s name herefrom. The route length of about 600 n. m lies around Malta and Sicily islands. The weather at this time of the year changes almost instantly, from a weak breeze of 1-1.5 knots on the day of the Race start to 30 knots by regatta’s end. RUNNING ON WAVES took part in the race as jury boat, the group of Russian Maritime Artclub’s photographers and sailoff Royal Malta Yacht Club organizer’s photographer were also on board so it is only logical that we opt to present the story of RUNNING ON WAVES participation in the Race as photo report.

The names, results, participants’ reports, etc. are not included in those materials on purpose, you can look up this information on the race official website. The sailing race is shown as originally seen and filmed by our passengers on Board. Report includes Anatoly Vasiliev’s, Liubov Malikova’s and Vyacheslav Petrov’s photos.

These green pennants for all yachtsmen around the world symbolize Rolex famous sailing regattas.

Regattas’ launching day is Saturday, October 17. A peaceful autumn morning in Malta, the temperature is 25 C . RUNNING ON WAVES is ready for start at port of Valletta. The man on the photo is Anatoly Vasiliev, founder and director of the Maritime Artclub (in the front) with Maltese Falcon yacht behind.

Private yachts and boats are maneuvering to find the best view point. They will be out of view when regatta starts.

On start!!!! Racing boats move slowly forward. The wind is only 1 knot. But according to the forecast by the race end it can be up to 35 knots, that’s just the beginning!

October, 22. Regatta’s leaders are enjoying the sea view after their finish. RUNNING ON WAVES party for sponsors, founders and the most famous crews. The unofficial symbol of the evening is a three-liter Russian Standard platinum vodka.
