Everest

In May 2012 RUNNING ON WAVES flag was raised at the summit of Mount Everest. Interesting details of this story are following. The flag was raised to the world's highest mountain peak by Andreas Georgiou, the first Cypriot climber, who ascended Everest. Earlier, in September 2011, he was blessed for it by the priest and traveler Fyodor Konyukhov aboard RUNNING ON WAVES, where they were as the fates decree. By the way on the same day, on May 18, 2012, when the first Cyprian climber, Georgiou Andrea, ascended to Everest, Fyodor Konyukhov climbed there second time in his life as well, and became the world's fourth climber to conquer Mount Everest at the age of 60 years or more. (At that time he was exactly 60). Gheorghiu and Fedor had not met at the top. The difference in ascendance time was about two hours. But even if they had met, would hardly recognize each other in the oxygen masks. But this is an incredible series of coincidences, isn’t it?
